Harry Potter!

I bought it. I read it. It was fantastic! It was such a fun read. I am now bursting to talk about it. About who died and who didn't who was evil and who was not. Why different people did things etc. I am waiting for my siblings to finish reading so we can all talk about how exciting the whole thing was. Now I can think about going back to school tomorrow. I am excited and not all at the same time. I do have little finishing touches to add to folders being handed up. Hopefully I can post some pictures of some of the stuff I have been making.

More spinning and some knitting

Ever since I spun for the first time I was thinking about how I was going to be able to do it more often. Then I was talking to a friend of mine, and she said she wasn't using her spinning wheel and I could borrow it for a while. It has been so much fun. Our house is very small and my bloke said a spinning wheel wouldn't fit, so it is living at mums house. Not so good because I can't spend every waking moment spinning (probably a good thing), but it is good 'cause some of my siblings are spinning as well. This is my most recent spinning and plying.

I think it is so beautiful. It is almost read for washing and then making something from. The whole making something from spun wool is very exciting. After I washed my first lot it just walked around holding it for a while before I could decide what to make out of it. I finally decided I needed a hat for going back to school next week.

So I made this pixie-ish, may gibbs, acron hat thing. I love it desperately. I did the whole make-it-up-as-you-go thing and it worked quite well. I am thinking that the next lot might become a hat too. I don't have many hats and in this chilly weather hats are great to have.

Another exciting note. Today is the day for the 7th Harry Potter Book! I am so excited. Yes I know it is already in shops now. I am not well today so I am waiting for my sister and we are going to get the book together and read together (with chocolate raspberry bullets). You might not think that reading is something you do in groups but I think it is. Every now and then you have to look up from what you are reading and say "oh wow this happened, and that!"

I spun . . .

. . . and plied! I have always (well probably not always, but it feels like a really long time) wanted to learn how to spin. I love to knit and crochet, so naturally spinning was next on my list. A few days ago I went to friends house and she had her spinning out. She had been fixing her sisters wheel, so had two set up. I learnt there and then. At first I though that I wouldn't be able to do it as the spindle kept jumping off. It didn't take too long though before I was spinning. I kept thinking to myself "I'm spinning I'm spinning!" It is silly how fun I thought it was. Now of course I want my own spinning wheel. It is not on the top of my list of things to spend money on, so I shall have to wait.

This is my first attempt. Not too bad. It is still in its unwashed state in this picture. Once I have washed it I will decided whether to dye it or not.

Here it is all nice and close, it just makes me excited looking at it. Another thing I made a little while ago is this little purse.

Ok, so I lied. Its not quite finished yet. It only needs a doing up bit. I knitted it and the shibori felted/fulled it in the washing machine. It was very exciting. I am desperate to do more, but it is on the end of a long list of things to do at the moment. I still have Harry Potter crafts to finish before a Harry Potter party and I only have one week of holidays to finish all my school work due first week back. We will see how we go. I have other thrilling things to say about a two day workshop I am in the middle of and a four day holiday to Port Lincoln, but that will have to wait for a moment when I have a little more energy.
