Button badges!

A few exciting things have happened recently. The first is I have updated my Etsy shop. I have included a pattern for this elephant. I have decided to make most of my softies into patterns and will be adding them gradually to my shop. Another exciting thing is I bought a button machine! I have wanted one for a while and so has my brother, so we bought it together. It is so exciting that after I made my first button I had to dance around the room.

This picture is a bit blurry but I think it shows a little how exciting these are. My brother has made heaps of buttons which he is using to decorate a bag. I am busy in Illustrator designing pretty things for more buttons destined for my Etsy shop (these ones are mine). My last exciting thing is about school. I have been dyeing and embellishing every hour or every day for the last few weeks and my projects are nearing completion. I am really happy with the results and I plan to have a big post about it all soon. No pictures yet, but hopefully they will be worth waiting for.

Oh, and lots of Harry Potter projects finished soon.

Some softies

I have been thinking a lot about toys made like this. So far I have only made two, a cow and a frog, but I have patterns drawn up for a heap of others. I am planning to make little clothes for them so I am sorry to say they are naked. They are made with polar fleece which is one of my favourite materials to work with when making toys. This little cow was the first. She was inspired by a painting I did a long time ago. I always liked the way her head turned out, so the head is the main feature.

This little froggy was the second. Because, well, I like frogs and I had a good green.

I did finish another crocheted animal - ta da! My little grey elephant. I am not sure about his eyes. I think they give him a funny look. What do you think?

And this is Pigwidgeon (from Harry Potter). I am a HP fan and I have been thinking HP party for July as the next movie and last book will be released then. I am making a Daily Prophet with lots of good ideas of things to make in it to give to friends to inspire them. I designed this little owl especially for it so they can all make one if wanted. He is so cute and very easy to make, so hopefully if I get around to having a party I will see many different versions.

Scrappy cabin swap!

A few days ago I received my package from Helen. We were participating in the scrappy cabin swap over at Melly & me. I came home from school and it was waiting for me. The fabrics she sent are so bright and cheerful, and I have lots of ideas of what I want to make. I know we are supposed to make scrappy cabin blocks, but I am going to use some for something else a bit special too.

I have been feeling a little unproductive at the moment. Hopefully I can find a burt of energy soon and do a bunch of the sewing which is swimming around in my head!

Fabric Postacrds

Note: Kids swap partner, do not read!

A while back I made these fabric postcards for all my mothers (mum, mu-in-law, and two grandmas). They are just pretty fabric (no piecing or appliqué) but I thought they were really nice. There is just something special about a fabric postcard that makes it exciting. My sister is going overseas for a year and a bit, and I already have heaps of great ideas for all the exciting mail I will send her. That's the good thing about knowing people far away - you can send them exciting mail!

This is a cute little elephant I designed for a swap I am doing over at craftster. I like him a lot and I think that I need to make me one soon! I am getting hooked on doing swaps. It is so fun to make something for someone you know will appreciate it and also to be receiving crafty mail yourself.

A front shot.

A blurry behind!

Another exciting thing is my bloke has started to sell computers. He decided that larger companies make too much money on the computers they sell, and that he could do it for much cheaper (and he loves computers and also loves to build them). If you are an Adelaidian like me you can have a squiz at his site.

Something a bit different

I have been feeling a bit blergy for no reason and decided I needed to do something a bit different. I have never been a great crocheting person (I think I have only made one thing and it took years and years), but I always liked how quickly you can get a piece of fabric compared to knitting. I have seen lots of cute amigurumi all over the internet and always thought "I will make those one day". So one day happened yesterday. I made a little monkey. I am terrible at following instructions (the head is shorter than it should be) but I feel more confident now (the rest of the body is in good proportion). Lately I feel a lot like I really don't know what I am doing or what I should be doing. It is causing me to go round and round in circles a bit. Aside from getting quite dizzy it is such a waste of time. I will work it out eventually, I hope. In the meantime I have started an elephant, but I am having trouble with his ears. Hopefully I can show you him soon!
